HLX-SENS Environmental Monitoring and Control

HLX Sens is a new line of modern industrial devices that integrates the functionalities of transmitters, displays, meters, and controllers. Thanks to the latest miniaturization technologies, these compact devices are equipped with two independent universal inputs, two binary or two analog outputs, as well as an RS-485 communication port with Modbus protocol.Within the HLX SENS range, models 200 and 400 are equipped with an integrated temperature and relative humidity sensor. In addition to an exceptionally wide operating temperature range (-30 ÷ +120 °C), they also feature mathematical functions that allow measured values to be transformed into others, for example, to calculate the dew point, the sum or difference of two measured values.A large integrated display and output signals allow HLX SENS units to be applied in control systems. There are numerous industrial applications where HLX SENS can act as a standalone controller. It can also interact with master devices via Modbus protocol, being part of a large network, which makes it the perfect device for distributed monitoring systems.

HLX-Sens Applications

  • food processing industry
  • building HVAC automation
  • warehouses, cold rooms
  • greenhouses, breeding
  • factories and production
  • museums, archives, galleries
  • server rooms, air-conditioned rooms
  • weather stations

Measurement

The main functionality of HLX SENS is to perform measurements. Depending on needs and requirements, this compact device is equipped with high-quality, precise, and stable temperature and humidity sensors and/or standard universal inputs for industrial automation. Thanks to its equipment, the device guarantees very high measurement reliability. Both versions of probes, integrated and wired, are made of stainless steel. The sensors are protected by a replaceable PTFE or stainless steel mesh filter. The type of filter is adapted to each probe version.

Control

The correct reaction of a controller is triggered by the interpretation of measured values, which influences the state of the output signals. Users can choose between binary and analog outputs (current and voltage) to adapt the model to the needs of a specific application. For this reason, the device is characterized by a wide range of different outputs and the possibility of using them in a single unit.Consequently, HLX SENS meters can be used for digital or proportional control, as well as to combine both functions in a single device.

Communication

In the case of more advanced measurement and control networks, communication between devices is required. For such applications, we offer the RS-485 interface, which is standard and supports the Modbus RTU protocol. The free S-Config software is used for communication functionalities that facilitate remote configuration of the device without the need to use a local keyboard. Measured values and output states are shared in Slave mode. This functionality is suitable for more advanced applications with existing centralized management and visualization systems or those necessary for devices in the HLX SENS line.

A wide range of possibilities

Thanks to the device's universal structure, it's possible to use 1 or 2 independent measurement channels. The most common type, equipped with a probe (integrated or wired), measures temperature or temperature and humidity in the sensor's area or, in the case of wired probes, on the system. Regardless of the above, for a two-channel device, the user can connect an external sensor via another universal measurement input. If it's not necessary to use structures with probes, both measurement inputs of the device can be used to connect external sensors installed directly on external industrial systems.

Visualization and utility software

SimCorder Soft

SimCorder Soft communicates with external devices via the RS-485 interface with Modbus RTU protocol and reads measurement data from the aforementioned devices. A computer can be connected directly to the device network or via the Internet. In the latter case, an Ethernet RS-485 converter is required. This software allows for acoustic and visual alerts (e.g., in case of excessive temperature in the chiller, excessive humidity, insufficient flow, etc.). The system can be configured so that each alert triggers a specific response from selected signaling modules. Any changes to device settings and reading measurements are performed remotely from a single station.

Immediate notification

Upon detecting emergency states, SimCorder Soft, in its Alarm or Network versions, generates text messages (an external GSM modem is required) and emails related to the same, sending them to the desired phone numbers (max 5 numbers) and email addresses. This allows for immediate intervention in situations such as system failures or exceeding permitted measurement parameters.

Monitoring from anywhere

A computer with SimCorder Soft installed in the Network SERVER version can share recorded data and system information, such as emergency states, via the Internet. Data can be viewed as tables or diagrams, or exported in different file formats to a computer with the Network TERMINAL version installed. The Network TERMINAL version also allows printing reports based on the aforementioned data. The entire system can be accessed from anywhere, at any time.

S-Config 2

S-Config 2 is free software used to configure devices in the HLX Sens line.

The software is used for simultaneous detection of devices in multiple Modbus RTU networks and offers users the ability to modify the configuration of most devices. For each detected device, a list of registers is displayed. Registers can be modified by users. The lists also include additional information about device parameters, such as type, address, baud rate, etc.

HLX SENS line devices can provide detailed information about their properties. Specifically, the information includes:

  • device type,
  • serial number,
  • firmware version,
  • input type,
  • type and number of outputs

An additional feature available for HLX SENSline within the software is the processing of custom graphic units, displayed in 3 measurements (e.g., m, l/h, kPa, °F, etc.)
